Portrait of Canada

One day. One question. One Country.

Pilot Project | Canada Day 2026 | Collaborators

On Canada Day, volunteer photographers will photograph Canadians and invite each participant to answer one shared question on camera. Your response is preserved as audio and transcript for the archive, based on the consent option you choose.

You will know what can be published publicly and what stays limited or archive-only before anything is recorded.

// Is this for me //

Be photographed on Canada Day and leave a short recorded response to one shared question.

If you’re a Canadian who wants to be photographed and contribute a short recorded response for a national archive, you’re in the right place.

You don’t need to be a public figure. You just need to be willing to show up, be photographed, and speak for a moment in your own words.

//  What to expect  //

A simple, respectful experience with clear standards behind the scenes.

  • A professional portrait taken by a volunteer photographer

  • A short recorded response on camera to one shared question

  • Your response preserved as audio and transcript for the archive

  • Clear consent options so you decide what can be public and what stays restricted

//  Time commitment  //

Quick, scheduled, and designed to be easy.

Typically 10–15 minutes, depending on the hub and scheduling.

If we don’t have a hub in your area yet, submitting the form still helps. It tells us where to build.

//  Consent and privacy  //

You control what becomes public.

This is consent-first.

Before anything is recorded, you choose a consent tier and you’ll know what can be published publicly and what stays limited or archive-only.

If you have privacy or safety concerns, you can flag them in the form and we’ll follow up before any next steps.

// How to get involved //

One form to start the conversation.

Participate

Get photographed and leave a short recorded response to one shared question.

//  What happens next  //

Clear steps, no pressure.

After you submit:

  1. We review interest by region and hub capacity

  2. If we can support your area, we’ll follow up with next steps and timing

  3. Closer to Canada Day, you’ll receive simple instructions and a confirmed time window

Submitting the form doesn’t lock you into anything.

It starts the conversation.
